Good Earth Natural Foods Named WholeFoods Magazine Retailer of the Year
South Plainfield, NJ–WholeFoods Magazine is pleased to announce that Good Earth Natural Foods, with locations in Utah, is its 2009 Retailer of the Year. Good Earth was co-founded by Rae Howard in 1973 “before natural products were mainstream,” says Rachael (Howard) Humphrey, one of the store’s current owners and Rae’s daughter. “Like so many other small stores at the time, we were devoted to natural healing and, despite the dismal likelihood of success, Good Earth was opened.”

The store now has five full-service stores (each averaging 11,000 ft²) and a total of 300 employees. Despite its size, Humphrey notes that Good Earth has maintained its hometown feel. “We want customers to know that every single individual matters to us,” she stated.
